Sing Noel is a volunteer Christmas concert sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was started in 1991 by Starla Phillips. After an initial attempt to produce the concert every year, the concert has continued every-other year since 1994 (except for 2020). The choir and orchestra has always included community members from many walks of life and faith traditions. The music is usually a classic choral style (think John Rutter or Mack Wilberg). Besides the piano and organ there are often horns, strings, and wind instruments.
The venue (2600 Ramona Rd. in Atascadero) has plenty of parking and is accessible to all abilities. We will have ASL interpretation at the concerts. If you have questions about accessibility, please contact Vicki van den Eikhof at the email address below.
Anyone 16 and older may participate as a performer. There is no audition process, but we do ask for your commitment to 80% of the rehearsals, the tech and dress rehearsals and both performances. We are always looking for instrumentalists as well.
This is an all-volunteer choir and the concerts are free and open to the public.
Rehearsals are every Sunday from 7-9pm starting the Sunday after Labor Day (this year, it’s Sept. 8). Rehearsals take place at 2600 Ramona Rd. in Atascadero.
Performances are the first week of December in the same location as rehearsals. There will be ASL interpretation provided.
Previous Director, Vicki van den Eikhof, is returning and Michelle Leavitt is the new Assistant Director.
